Changing Lives One Pot at a Time bushel.jpg

There is a vegetable revolution taking root in Cincinnati and the battle cry tomatoes.jpg at the Cincinnati Horticultural Society is, "Don't just eat your vegetables...GROW them, too!"

lettuce.jpgGROW is a long-term program of the Cincinnati Horticultural Society developed to address the issues currently facing many individuals and families: healthy lifestyles, economic challenges, community involvement and environmental concerns. Participants will increase their knowledge of gardening and be able to appreciate how small changes in our behavior can have a significant effect on our overall wellbeing.

"Some of the best benefits of having your own vegetable garden are relieving excess stress and providing a means of exercise." ~Carol Stack, Enzine Articles

radish 3.jpgGROW kicks-off in spring 2009, providing 5,000 individuals throughout the Greater Cincinnati Metro area with vegetable garden kits (pot, soil, plant materials), everything needed for your container garden to yield fresh vegetables for at least 30 meals. By the end of the first harvest, we hope to have influenced our community to be more committed to nature, healthy eating and an active lifestyle. GROW reinforces the growing desire of consumers to eat locally grown food because it tastes better, is healthier and curbs the rising cost of groceries, demonstrating how sustainable gardening and nutrition work hand in hand.
